1Piece of junk  Sep 06, 2009
I purchased two of these timers. Neither lasted more than a few months. One developed a leak around the plastic/brass connector to the faucet. The unit would not reliably turn off especially when I hooked it up to my drip system. I bought a more expensive model at home depot with a digital read out. It only lasted about two months and developed the same problem in that it would not turn off. I did some testing and found that any back pressure on the hose side of the control will not allow the unit to close off the valve. If you are using it to control a drip system or a single sprinkler it will not close every time. I suspect that the valve gets the mechanical power to actually move it open and closed from the water flowing through it. Skip this one and buy something that will work. Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer

5One of the best outdoor lawn gifts from my husband!  Aug 14, 2009
The automatic drip system that my husband purchased and set up for me a few years ago has made watering my hanging baskets and summer annuals a delight. The Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer allows us to forget about watering plants. The system may be set to water once or multiple times a day. It may also be set to water for a short period of time or longer. The actual drip system he set up is a simple Toro drip system and may be added onto as desired. But, the best part is the Orbit Timer. We now have two of them -- one for the back and one for the front. It makes summertime a true pleasure. We no longer have to rely on others to come and water our plants. We have tried another brand; and we definitely like the simplicity of the Orbit. We can change the settings at any time easily.

4Great irrigation timer!  Jul 17, 2009
This is the 4th timer that I'm buying for my father. He's been using the others at random locations throughout his yard, greenhouse and garden. They have been very dependable, also the batteries have worked throughout the season without fail. We would recommend this timer, it's simple, durable and easy to run.

4Don't worry! These are pretty darned good.  Jul 17, 2009
I own three of these, the first one purchased about 7-8 years ago, and two more a year or two later. All have worked flawlessly. Put in new batteries at the first of the season, they last all season.

The first one I purchased required two 9-volt batteries, which are rather expensive. Apparently the mfg recognized that as a negative and switched to 3-AA batteries, much better.

The timer is quite accurate and, if desired can be set to multiple times and schedules per day, single daily schedule or several times per week.

I think this is important: Since these timers are plastic, rather than connecting them directly to the faucet, as protection I have always used a 12-inch hose with the wire coil on the outside between the timer and the faucet. Such hose pieces can be found at HD, Lowes or perhaps the RV section at WalMart. Similar to this: Hose Connector Super-Flex EZ-T

The only malfunction I ever had was when I neglected to put in new batteries at the first of the season.

You will actually find this identical timer under several different names at different stores.

I noticed retail price is currently a little lower at my local ACE, but Amaz has free shipping and no tax, which levels the playing field.

1Don't buy it  Mar 29, 2009
This was the "best" timer I could buy at the local hardware. The first one leaked; the replacement never worked at all.
