Easy Cooking Oct 06, 2009 When you are unable to stand by your stove to cook a meal, this crockpot can do the cooking for you without you standing by. Since I have "MS", it is sometimes difficult for me to stand. I can have a wonderful dinner waiting for me in the crockpot, plus when I fix a larger portion of food(s) in it, I would have enough for two meals.

Burns food, hands Aug 07, 2009 I wanted to get a new crock pot so it would be easier to clean (I have an old one - no insert). Instead, I get a crock pot that burns food and my hands. Recipes that used to cook overnight or throughout the day are now getting done in less than 2 hours on the low setting. The lid rattles and spurts out liquid. The worst is how hot the outside gets. I understand the new requirements that the heating elements go up the sides instead of being on the bottom, but there should be some insulation so you don't get burned. There is no way I could leave my house if I tried to cook something in this. I e-mailed the crock-pot company (Jarden consumer solutions) many times and got a different rep each time they replied (even when they told me to mention their name in the reply email). Called the 800 number twice and even though they sent me another one, it did the same thing. I don't think I would even want to give this away because I think they are dangerous. Even though they say my satisfaction is guaranteed, I just want my money back, but I don't think that will happen. Going back to my old, tried and true crock-pot. Do not waste your money on this one!

Were cooking. Mar 24, 2009 We use our "slow cooker" three times a month. Just throw in the ingrediants and let it go. No need to worry about things burning or bubbling over. From pot roast to chilli, we use it for most serious cooking.
Trying to get parts is the real challange. The top was dropped and we need a new top handle for the cover. Web site is almost impossible to use. Probably end up making a phone call

Rival 5-qt Crockpot Feb 18, 2009 My 5-qt crockpot quit after many years of service. I saved the crock and bought a new rival 5-qt one. the crocks are interchangeable which is a handy feature. My new one has the advantage of a warm setting. I really use and love crockpots. They have a long life and are so convenient.

Definitely cooks too hot on low Jul 20, 2008 I have owned a LOT of crockpots. In fact, as we speak I not only have this one, but also a 1 quart, 3 quart, 7 quart and 18 quart. I liked the pretty looks of this one, but I agree with the other reviewers that said it cooks too hot on the low temperature. You MUST have your crockpot about 3/4 full or so to avoid it. High liquid recipes like broth based soups are ok, but thicker food like stew, chili, etc. are inclined to burn if left for a long time.
