5Yard Machine 22-Inch Rocks  Sep 18, 2009
I was Worried that I would have trouble starting the mower. But I really needed a push mower for the areas I couldn't reach with my riding mower. I am very pleased with this Yard Machine. I can start this with only 1-2 yanks, which is very important as I have a really bad shoulder. It's light weight, easy to handle and does a great job on the lawn. Now I don't have to carry my gas edger as much and hurt my back. I'm an old worn out nurse with an acre of land that I like to keep looking good. This mower has been a blessing. Thank you for the excellent products and fast delivery.
I highly recommend this mower for women for it's ease of starting and use.

1not a good choice  Jul 24, 2009
I got to use the Yard Machines (158 cc motor) mower I bought once before it refused to start. A buddy had the exact same problem, did some research and found out that the B/S (no pun)engine has a fuel pre-filter that is too fine and gets clogged easily. Mine is going back to Home Depot.

5Best for the money  Jul 15, 2009
I saw the one star review on here and had to put in my two cents.
Last night my old lawn mower died. The exact same engine as this one. I paid $100 5 years ago at Walmart and the thing started first time every time for five years. Last night it gave up the ghost and I immediately got on line to find another. Walmart doesn't carry them anymore but Home Depot had one ($150). I bought it last night (7/14/09)and today I finished mowing my lawn. It took ten minutes to set up and the first time it took a few pulls but then it started first time.
You can have the expensive lawn mowers. If this things works like my last one I will be very happy. As happy as you can be and still be mowing a lawn.
p.s. If I do have a problem, I'll be back to amend this.

1stops running after 2nd use  May 11, 2009
Purchased Sept '08 used once and fired it up this spring where it promptly stopped working after it cut one swath of 30 feet. Emptied the old fuel and used new gas to see if stale fuel was the culpirt. Applied d starting fluid and it would run till the starting fluid was used up. Checked the fuel filter and looked OK. So, I bring it back to Home Depot where I bought it and it will be sent out to repair. Oh, by the way there is a $37.45 fee for diagnostic by Home Depot even though the unit is under warranty. So beware that a warranty as serviced by Home Depot comes with a fee, of course, according to customer service that is refundable if the repair is covered by warranty.
Can't tell if the lawn mower is any good at cutting as it never got to work long enough to determine how it works.
This diagnostic fee is something that is unfair as a consumer is not in a position to contest if the defect is the manufacturer or something I did---which is not the case as the mower was hardly used. When I get it back I will update future readers of the results.

May 21, 2009 - The authorized repair center calls and says it needs carburator and spark plug and it is NOT covered by the warranty. I wanted to speak to the person who made that decision and the rep says they went to the "computer" where it says not covered. OH, great no person that has responsibilty and when I said it was used only twice and started to get upset they cut off the conversation and hung up. The repair center is Altaquip, Pennsauken, NJ. BAD customer service and hardly knowing what they are supposed to do.
So now its going to cost $87 + 37.45 for repairing a mower less than a year old that was used twice for probally no more than 20 minutes. Add to the purchase price and this POS is up to $264.
Time to file consumer complaints against all parties and see where that gets me. DO NOT BUY.

Amazingly, the Sears craftsmen I use at the office needed an air filter and I go to Sears to purchase a replacement, and they gave it to me for FREE. Said it was under warranty. This is for a three year old mower. Go figure who I'm buying a mower from next!
