Great little smoothie maker May 09, 2009 I bought this for my daughter's apartment and she loved it-she joined the Navy and I inherited it-I just love it. Every morning I make a nutritional smoothie with frozen fruit. It pulverizes the fruit and is easy to clean. A tip-get some 10" straws to sip your smoothie. I have used it every day for at least a year and it is still going strong

Ideal Blender for protein shakes Jun 05, 2008 This blender is very simple. Really not much to it. Takes up almost no space at all. I won't say that the quality is good. I'm on my third one. The first one just had some mechanical failure and the blade siezed up on the lid. I wish I could've just purchased another lid with blade, but I never saw an option for that. HOWEVER, I stick with this blender because it's the least messy, you can purchase extra cups with lids (pack of 2 for $10, I think), they're dishwasher safe (put the cups in the top shelf, though), and they're the perfect size for a protein shake. Why use a regular blender? You'd have to clean out that every time you use it and then also clean out whatever cup you pour it into as well. Gets the job done and keep the mess to a minimum.
Powerful, convenient blender Apr 30, 2008 I love making things with blenders, but I absolute hate the clean-up (especially since I usually make single servings). This makes it incredibly easy to make a single serving to go, with a very quick cleanup. The cup is probably a little larger than I need, but it's very secure and not messy. Highly recommended if your needs are like mine (quick, easy, convenient).
Great for the price Dec 02, 2007 I used a blender stick for a few years to make my daily smoothie but when it died, I was reticent to pay the hefty price for another one just to kill it, too. Besides, the containers with it were not deep enough and I'd spill just about every one.
There's a little adaptation to this machine because of inverting the container - I had to build ingredients "backwards" to avoid some things sticking to the bottom (top, when on the blender) and not mixing in. I use crushed ice, which also might help blending and longevity. I purchased the spare "travel mugs" so one will always be clean without hand-washing. The mug can definitely go in the dishwasher, but NOT the blending top. I did it once and the seal came out. It's small enough that it could have been ripped up by the dishwasher and it was a little tough to get back in. It cleans up well under the tap.
The base does seem cheap and plastic, and I recognized the "hot plastic" smell some others have mentioned. So far, none of this seems to affect performance. For the price, it can last 6 months to a year and still be worth it. Even nicer would be the option of purchasing just the base, since it seems likely to wear out before the mugs.

Useful but not durable Nov 14, 2007 For the price, I really have no room for complaint, but after 2 years of hard use (3-4 times a week) I awoke yesterday to finding little plastic chips on the blender stand and a high whine when I tried to use it. The plastic teeth that mesh with the plastic motor had worn off. I'm deciding now if I want to spend the money on a full replacement (since they do not sell the bladed lids separately) or try another brand.
